College Football Betting: NOTRE DAME FIGHTING IRISH at TEXAS LONGHORNS (9/4)

COLLEGE FOOTBALL — September 4

NOTRE DAME at TEXAS
(Line: Notre Dame -4.5, Total 56) – Big revenge for Texas, which was ripped to the tune of 38-3 by this Irish squad a year ago. Malik Zaire picked them apart for 19-22 and 313 yards, but it was DeShone Kizer who took the team most of the way as a redshirt freshman. Both QB’s are available, and both will play. Meanwhile, Charlie Strong, entering a do-or-die season, in the opinion of many, is hoping that frosh QB Shane Buechele has something to offer. Texas brings back 17 starters and had a great recruiting class, which includes speed-burning WR Devin Duvernay, who got out of his Baylor commitment to come to Austin. And the Irish, who already had to replace seven players who were drafted in the first 3-1/2 rounds by the NFL, also have to fill holes created by WR Corey Robinson (concussions), TE Alize Jones (Academics) and Safety Max Redfield (dismissed). That’s a lot to do, even for Kelly. Texas would have a solid running game with the D’Onta Foreman-Chris Warren duo, and we will see linebacker Malik Jefferson making a lot of plays. The Longhorns have won sixteen straight home openers, and this one probably means more than any of them. When angered, they can rise to the occasion – keep in mind that they beat Oklahoma, which made it to the “Final Four” last year.
