BASEBALL — August 8

DETROIT (Fulmer) at SEATTLE (Iwakuma)
(Line: Mariners -130 / Tigers +110, Total 7.5) – Michael Fulmer, a front-runner for the American League rookie of the year award, has a very solid 2.88 ERA on the road, and the Tigers are 15-2 when he has taken the mound. Since 12 of his starts have come away from home, we have no problem trusting him in that regard. Hisashi Iwakuma, who has walked only 4.9% of the batters he has faced, has done that at about an 8% rate against the Tigers, and has had no success against some of the members of this starting lineup. Look at these figures: Ian Kinsler (.375), Victor Martinez (.400), Miguel Cabrera (.400), Jose Iglesias (.462), Jarrod Saltalamacchia (.500). They have all had an OPS of 1.000 or better against Iwakuma. Good underdog play.
