Baseball Betting: BALTIMORE ORIOLES at SEATTLE MARINERS (7/2)

BASEBALL — July 2

BALTIMORE (Wilson) at SEATTLE (Paxton)
(America’s Bookie Line: Mariners -150 / Orioles +130, Total 8) — Seattle seems to have recovered a bit after a terrible stretch of games that took them from the lead in the AL West to non-contention, at least for the division title. And they were able to put a stop to the Baltimore freight train that had tallied 35 runs over the previous three games and was on a seven-game win streak before making the trek to the Pacific Northwest. Tyler Wilson has turned out to be a much better pitcher on the road than he is at home, and he shut out the Boston Red Sox over eight innings in his last start as a visitor. So there’s some encouragement there. James Paxton has a very high strikeout rate, but guys make contact against him, and the O’s have hit more homers than anyone in the majors. Seattle knows that Paxton gets hit early, and then is a big question mark after the fifth inning, and the M’s used Mike Montgomery, Edwin Diaz and Steve Cishek for an inning each out of the bullpen yesterday, so they may find themselves in a bit of a quandary there. We don’t mind banking on first-place Baltimore’s ability to get things right with the bats here, and avoiding dropping the first three games of this four-game set.
