West Finals – Game 5
GOLDEN STATE at OKLAHOMA CITY

(America’s Bookie Line: Warriors -7, Total 220) — Well, no one thought the Warriors might be in a position where they could actually get ousted from the playoffs in five games, yet that very strong possibility is in front of them. The Thunder have already beaten Golden State once in Oakland (Game 1) and they seem to be getting the best of all the matchups, especially when it comes to the inside game, as Andrew Bogut has not produced, while Steven Adams, Serge Ibaka and Enes Kanter indeed have. So we aren’t exactly enthusiastic about what Steve Kerr’s team is doing at the moment. However, one can’t lose sight of the fact that there is some upside here with Golden State. Stephen Curry made only six of his 20 shots on Tuesday (2 for 10 from long range). And Draymond Green has been dreadful of late, with a 2-16 shooting effort in the last two games and -73 in the plus/minus. This team looks a lot like the San Antonio squad that eventually went quietly in the previous round. And meanwhile, Russell Westbrook had a triple-double in Game 4. He has the same shooting accuracy as Curry in this series (42%) and the Thunder (35.2%) is very close to the three-point percentage of the Warriors (35.5%). If things can get back to “normal,” this series could be extended another game. When the Warriors romped in Game 2, it was because they did a better job on the boards (15 offensive rebounds, 15 second-chance points), and that was a product of hustle. With everything on the line – after a 73-win regular season – we would look for that intensity to come back for Golden State.
