NBA Betting: West Finals – Game 1: OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER at GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS (5/16)

PRO BASKETBALL — May 16

West Finals – Game 1
OKLAHOMA CITY at GOLDEN STATE

(America’s Bookie Line: Warriors -7.5, Total 225) — The Warriors held Russell Westbrook to just 34.7% shooting in three regular season meetings, and that obviously is a key factor when evaluating this matchup. We know how important the guy is, but despite that, OKC was over 100 points in each of those games. Westbrook has adopted a little more of the “playmaker” mode here, and that will bode well for this offense on an overall basis. If he can keep things under control, he’ll be on the floor more, and that is where they have scored 23 more points per 100 possessions with him out there and no Kevin Durant than the other way around. And the Thunder are going to get their second-chance points; not sure that the Warrior lineup, which is smallish, is going to keep them from doping that. Golden State has more assists, as a percentage of baskets, than any other NBA team in the playoffs, and we’re not altogether convinced that the Thunder is ready to solve that mystery. The Warriors’ Pace factor in these playoffs is the highest among all teams (101.6), and with the Thunder having some success with Westbrook and Durant in transition scoring (#1 and #2 in the department in this post-season), we wouldn’t be surprised if OKC was all too willing to step up the tempo.
