NBA Betting: East Playoffs – Game 3: ATLANTA HAWKS at BOSTON CELTICS (4/22)

Eastern Conference playoffs – Game 3

(America’s Bookie Line: Celtics -3, Total 202) — The Celtics were not able to get anything together offensively in the first half of Game 1, hitting just 23%, but they did come on strong to almost pull one out. Game 2 was a complete disaster, as they scored SEVEN points in the first quarter (an NBA playoff low since the advent of the shot clock) and finished at 31.8%. They were not hyper-productive in the paint, as the Hawks swatted away no less than fifteen shots. We give you all this background because while we’re not sure Boston could be all that bad at the TD Garden, where they have won 19 of their last 22 games, they aren’t going to be worlds better either, A couple of things come into play here – one is that they have shot just 43.6% at home this season, so if they get it done, it will be with defense and controlling the pace; and two is that they are banged up. Avery Bradley, the second-leading scorer, is out, and Kelly Olynyk, one of the few inside people they have, is probably following him to the sidelines (shoulder). Guard Marcus Smart, who was 1-for-9 from the field in Game 2, is hurting from bruised ribs. As far as the technical trends are concerned, Atlanta has gone under in six of its last seven, while the Celts have gone that way in ten of their last 14.
