College Basketball Betting: NIT – WASHINGTON HUSKIES at SAN DIEGO STATE AZTECS (3/21)

COLLEGE BASKETBALL — March 21

NIT Tournament
WASHINGTON at SAN DIEGO STATE

(America’s Bookie Line: San Diego State -5.5, Total 149.5) — This is big on a couple of fronts for San Diego State, which was not only left out of the NCAA Tournament field, but also has bitter memories of the 49-36 thumping they took from the Huskies in a meeting from last season. In that game, SDSU made eleven of 54 field goals. Of course, the assignment for the Aztecs, who lost to Fresno State in the Mountain West tournament and thus were left in the cold for the Big Dance, is to control the pace, something they should have some success doing in Viejas Arena, where they have allowed just 59 ppg and 36% shooting. Washington has actually been outshot this season (43%-42.7%), and they had a racehorse game with Long Beach State in their last outing, winning a 107-102 decision. But SDSU can obviously slow them with Steve Fisher’s in-your-face defensive approach, and interestingly, we wonder whether U-Dub figures they can win a low-scoring game, considering they did it last year. At any rate, we figure the team with motivation can dictate the pace, for better or worse.
