Pro Football Betting: NFC Playoffs – SEATTLE SEAHAWKS at CAROLINA PANTHERS (1/17)

PRO FOOTBALL — January 17

NFC Playoffs

(America’s Bookie Line: Panthers -2.5, Total 42) — Are the Panthers as good as one would normally expect from a 15-1 team? Well, they are the league’s most efficient offensive club, in that they are 12th in yards per drive but first in points per drive, and lead everybody in points scored, both overall and in the red zone. This is a lot for the Seahawks’ defense to contend with, but Seattle seems very much at home on the road, as they have allowed just ONE offensive touchdown by opponents in their last six games as the visitor. They can slow the Carolina running game as well. Furthermore, while the Panthers have forced more turnovers than anyone in the league (39), the Seahawks have committed only 16 TO’s all season long. Marshawn Lynch is kind of a placebo here; the ground game can move whether he is in the lineup or not. And Russell Wilson had 24 TD’s and just one interception in seven games Lynch was missing. Last week was an aberration, as far as Seattle’s offensive effort is concerned. Remember also that when these teams played in Week 6, the Seahawks had not yet jelled (were dropped to 2-4 in that one), and did not have All-Pro linebacker Bobby Wagner in the lineup.
