Pro Basketball Betting: SAN ANTONIO SPURS at CLEVELAND CAVALIERS (1/30)

PRO BASKETBALL — January 30

SAN ANTONIO at CLEVELAND
(America’s Bookie Line: Spurs -2, Total 204.5) — Both of these teams should at least have some focus after they were recently blasted by Golden State. For the Spurs that would mean defense, as they have allowed fewer points than anyone (90.6 per game). But they are missing Tim Duncan, a real defensive anchor (and #1 in Defensive Rating in the league). Meanwhile, after the rather rude dismissal of David Blatt in Cleveland, the assistant who took over, Tyronn Lue, has asked his team to step up the tempo significantly. And LeBron James has said he is on board. Cleveland is fifth in Offensive Efficiency, and in the last three games they have averaged 114 points. In the four games under Lue, they have averaged 87 shots – compared to just 81 in the five preceding games, if that tells you anything. If they are going to bite the Spurs as the home dog here, they might just do it by forcing that kind of tempo.
