College Football Betting: Sugar Bowl – OLE MISS REBELS vs. OKLAHOMA STATE COWBOYS (1/1)

COLLEGE FOOTBALL — January 1

Sugar Bowl @ New Orleans
OLE MISS vs. OKLAHOMA STATE

(America’s Bookie Line: Ole Miss -7.5, Total 72.5) — Ole Miss lost its best defensive player when Robert Nkemdiche, who was suspended for an incident in which he was charged with marijuana possession. But the Rebels are good enough otherwise on defense to make OSU one-dimensional on offense, as they have surrendered just 3.4 ypc. And Mason Rudolph (3591 yards) may be able to do a little damage under those circumstances, but perhaps not enough to trade points with Ole Miss, which is directed by Chad Kelly, nephew of Hall of Famer Jim Kelly, who is one of the better pro-style passers in the SEC, and who led the Rebels to a win AT Alabama in only his third start. Remember that OSU has allowed more than 500 yards in four of their last five games, including 700 against Baylor. There is little doubt that the Rebels, who have the best offensive weapon on the field in WR Laquon Treadwell, can move at will. And they are supremely motivated, as they look for redemption after last season’s no-show in the 42-3 loss to TCU in the Peach Bowl. There’s a new attitude – coach Hugh Freeze has made sure of that.
