College Basketball Betting: USC TROJANS at UCLA BRUINS (1/13)

COLLEGE BASKETBALL — January 13

USC at UCLA
(America’s Bookie Line: UCLA -2.5, Total 159.5) — The Trojans have suffered mightily recently against their crosstown rivals, losing three games last season, for example, by a combined 54 points, as UCLA shot 55% from the field. But there is a marked difference between Andy Enfield’s team last year and this year. For one thing, these guys are real threats from beyond the arc (more than nine per game and with 41% accuracy). This works for them in this matchup because they will force Steve Alford to take big men off the floor for the purposes of dealing in open space with the four-guard lineup USC will employ at times. And it is so tough to lend concentrate to any one place, because the Trojans have FIVE players averaging between 12.2 and 12.9 points. In case you’re not familiar, that’s uncommon balance to have in a college team. And these Men of Troy don’t surrender points easily, yielding just 39% from the field.
