Sunday Night NFL Betting: NEW YORK GIANTS at MINNESOTA VIKINGS (12/27)

PRO FOOTBALL — December 27

(America’s Bookie Line: Vikings -7, Total 45) — The Giants are now officially out in the cold as far as the playoffs are concerned, and maybe there is a countdown until the Day of Reckoning on coach Tom Coughlin. We won’t see Odell Beckham here, as the explosive wide receiver is serving his one-game suspension, and so Eli Manning now has to choose from among a rather pedestrian group of wide receivers. New York was aided by a strong running game (161 yards) in last week’s thrilling loss to Carolina (in which it came back from a 35-7 deficit), but that was an anomaly, considering it was only the third time they have gone over the 100-yard lark. This team is last in defense, with one of the components being the league’s lowest sack rate (only 3.2% of all pass plays), which means that they can’t properly exploit Teddy Bridgewater’s penchant for taking too long to make decisions. Adrian Peterson may not be 100% (sprained ankle), but he will be eager to recapture his NFL rushing lead. And the Vikings, who can tie for the NFC North lead here, welcome back defensive lineman Linval Joseph, linebacker Anthony Barr and safety Harrison Smith to the lineup. That’s a big factor.
