College Football Betting: Orange Bowl – CLEMSON TIGERS vs. OKLAHOMA SOONERS (12/31)

Orange Bowl @ Miami Gardens, FL

(America’s Bookie Line: Oklahoma -3.5, Total 63) — Oklahoma came down the stretch with a lot of momentum, covering six of their last seven games, with consecutive victories over Baylor, TCU and Oklahoma State to put them in this position. Baker Mayfield was a godsend to this offense, after transferring from Texas Tech, and of course there is a 1-2 punch in the backfield that is tough to beat, when you consider Sammy Perrine and Joe Mixon. Oklahoma had a defense that was good enough to hold a team like Kansas State to 110 total yards, and in the wide-open Big 12, they limited their opponents to less than six yards per passing attempt. This is a complete team, but so is Clemson, which has the dual threat of Deshaun Watson, a Heisman Trophy finalist with 30 touchdowns and 883 yards rushing. Even with Deon Cain, one of his receivers, suspended for this one, Watson has a lot of depth to choose from in his receiving corps. And Wayne Gallman (1319 yards) provides a lot of punch out of the backfield. Clemson was very tough on opposition quarterbacks, allowing only 46% completions, and they answered the bell again and again. Take note that these clubs met last year, with Clemson triumphing 40-6 in the Russell Athletic Bowl, although neither Watson nor Mayfield was in that game. This is a close one, but we take the points.
