College Football Betting: Military Bowl – PITTSBURGH PANTHERS at NAVY MIDSHIPMEN (12/28)

COLLEGE FOOTBALL — December 28

Military Bowl @ Annapolis
PITTSBURGH at NAVY

(America’s Bookie Line: Navy -2.5, Total 52.5) — Kudos to Pat Narduzzi for the job he has done at Pitt, particularly as he had to do it without the services of James Conner, the All-American running back who tore up his knee and then was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. His defense was pretty tough against the run (allowing just 126 yards a game), but the Panthers could not handle the curveballs thrown at them by Georgia Tech, which had 376 yards on the ground. And of course, Navy uses much the same system. The Middies do a lot of fundamental things the right way; for example, they have a +17 turnover margin (2nd best in the nation); convert third downs (48%), have fewer penalties than anyone else, and have scored touchdowns on 39 of their 52 red zone appearances. This becomes a big sendoff for QB Keenan Reynolds (1229 yds, 5.1 ypc, 21 TD’s), who can set (once again) the NCAA record for career rushing touchdowns here, in his final game as a collegian. Oh, and the Midshipmen are playing on their own home field as well.
