College Football Betting: Birmingham Bowl – MEMPHIS TIGERS vs. AUBURN TIGERS (12/30)

COLLEGE FOOTBALL — December 30

Birmingham Bowl
MEMPHIS vs. AUBURN

(America’s Bookie Line: Auburn -4, Total 65) — Auburn brought in Will Muschamp to shore up the defense, and he was able to advance to the head job at South Carolina despite not bringing about much of a transformation. In fact, the War Eagle only had 17 sacks, so it is going to be a challenge keeping sustained pressure on Paxton Lynch, the Memphis quarterback who has an other-worldly 28-3 ratio of TD’s to INT’s and already led his team to an upset of a better SEC team this year (Ole Miss). Granted, this Memphis bunch had its share of problems with Navy’s attack, and ideally, Auburn incorporates some of those same read-option principles. But Jeremy Johnson, who was benched earlier this year and then re-inserted when freshman Sean White got hurt, hardly resembles dual threat Nick Marshall, who was last year’s signal-caller. Auburn is pretty awful when it comes to the technical side as well; they have dropped 19 of their last 23 games against the pointspread and their last seven as a favorite.
