Thursday Night Football Betting: MIAMI DOLPHINS at NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS (10/29)

PRO FOOTBALL — October 29

(America’s Bookie Line: Patriots -8, Total 51.5) — The Patriots are on a pace to score the third most points in NFL history. Tom Brady is having another superlative season, completing 69% of his passes with 16 touchdowns and only one interception. He has Rob Gronkowski, Julian Edelman, etc, etc., etc. We all know what the Patriots can do. Now let’s talk about what they CAN’T do. They can’t seem to stop the run with any kind of authority (4.5 ypc allowed). They can’t protect Brady like they used to, with two rookies on the offensive line and left tackle Nate Solder out. They can’t seem to achieve a whole lot of balance either (64% passes).

Anyone following the NFL knows by now that Dan Campbell has injected a certain level of energy into this Miami bunch, stepping up the intensity in practice and getting explosive efforts against Tennessee and Houston. No, New England is not those teams. But the Dolphins have ten sacks in the last two weeks, when they had only one in the first four games. Cameron Wake and Ndomukong Suh have come alive, and that could create problems for the Pats’ patchwork OL. Lamar Miller (288 yards the last two weeks) has given them a running game. Ry7an Tannehill went 18 for 19 last week and at one point completed 25 straight passes, an NFL record. And we’re not thinking these guys are going to get flat all of a sudden. Remember also that Miami has beaten New England two of the last three times they have played.
