College Football Picks: MARSHALL THUNDERING HERD at CHARLOTTE 49ERS (10/31)

COLLEGE FOOTBALL — October 31

MARSHALL at CHARLOTTE
(America’s Bookie Line: Marshall -17, Total 52) — When you have a quarterback situation like Charlotte does with Lee McNeill and Matt Johnson (not to be confused with the guy at Bowling Green) that has just three TD passes and 16 interceptions, you are in trouble against a Marshall team that is second in the nation in passing efficiency defense. That’s something that is not often appreciated with the Herd, where Rakeem Cato ran up huge numbers before graduating. They’d rather run the ball, even without Devon Johnson (sidelined by injury), as Hyleck Foster can complement Chase Litton, the freshman who has taken over very ably for James Madison transfer Michael Birdsong (with 12 TD’s and just four INT’s). Other than against defenseless Old Dominion, Charlotte has scored 34 points in four C-USA games.
