Baseball Odds: BOSTON RED SOX at HOUSTON ASTROS (7/23)

BASEBALL — July 23

BOSTON (Miley) at HOUSTON (McCullers)
(America’s Bookie Line: Astros -140 / Red Sox +120, Total 7.5) — Miley was sizzling in his last outing, but we wouldn’t count on him doing that again, based on his 13 runs in 18 innings prior to that. Is he reliable? McCullers, a rookie, might be more so, at least at Minute Maid Park, where his ERA is 1.20, and he is holding opposing batters to a .159 average. With just nine runs scored in their last six games, we are not all that interested in taking wild guesses as to when the Red Sox will finally start putting their bats on the ball. Remember that Houston gets off the launch pad very well – leading the majors in homers – and they have won four out of five to stay in the thick of things in the AL West.

PLAY BY JAY: HOUSTON -1.5 runs (+170) **
