NBA Basketball Betting: ORLANDO MAGIC at NEW ORLEANS PELICANS (10/28)

BASKETBALL — October 28

ORLANDO at NEW ORLEANS
(GetThatBet Line: Pelicans -9.5, Total: 190.5) — The season hasn’t even started yet, and Orlando is already off on the wrong foot. They’ll be missing the injured Channing Frye and Victor Oladipo for a while, and these guys were going to be counted on heavily to compensate for the loss of veteran leaders Jameer Nelson and Aaron Afflalo, who have taken off for better places. That leaves the Magic with retreads, second-line players and VERY young kids like Aaron Gordon and fellow first-rounder Elfrid Payton, and the learning curve is steep in this league. Luke Ridnour and Maurice Harkless are starting in the backcourt.

NBA experts speculated as to how New Orleans might actually be able to do if it had a healthy roster last year, but they were totally decimated. Now they have just about everyone present and accounted for, and that means, at least for this game, that Jrue Holiday, Eric Gordon and Ryan Anderson join Anthony Davis and new acquisition Omar Asik, who makes these team a bruiser on the inside. Jimmer Fredette is an intriguing new addition. And Austin Rivers is in a contract year after the Pelicans declined to pick up his team option. Orlando could barely cover one-third of its road games last season.
